Keeping your hair modern and up-to-date can require a bit of time and energy, but when you walk out the door feeling fabulous, you know it’s totally worth it. A modern hairstyle can save almost any outfit, and can add a finishing touch to your look. Keeping on top of the newest trends can be a hard job, so we thought we’d share some of the modern looks that we love:
Center Part – It almost goes without saying that the center part has been fully revived in 2012. We love this look because you can wear your hair with its natural waves for an indie look or vamp it up for a night on the town with volume and soft curled ends. The center part is very reminiscent of ’60s and ’70s fashion, but make sure your roots haven’t grown out too long, or else a center part will only highlight your lack of highlights!
Textured Side Braid – If you’re in a rush and have no time for flat irons and curlers, a textured side braid may just be your answer. This style is great for wavy or textured hair that may look too messy for a ponytail. We definitely expect this trend to carry through to the fall months, and would pair well with your turtlenecks, hats and scarves.
Double Twist Hairstyle – This is a great trend for upcoming fall and winter seasons, and was even worn in Gucci’s 2012 runway show. This style works best with longer, more textured hair, since you are joining the pieces in the back. This style needs no accessories, so you can switch mid-day from a simple center part to a double twist hairstyle, just for a fun change of pace.
Fringe – Fringes are definitely back, and have become one of the hottest news trends for hair. Fringes, or bangs, can be done in a number of ways; side swept for a soft, feminine look, or long and bluntly cut for an almost grungy look. Both Lea Michele and Jessica Biel have both rocked this look recently, and you can usually find Nicole Ritchie sporting some fringe. One warning with fringe-it may look like an easy DIY, but trust us, you’re better off going to a modern hair salon Houston TX with experienced stylists and saving yourself the tears.
Tousled and Pinned – Piled hairstyles are a great way to keep your look casual, but it can definitely be tricky going for an effortless look without it looking too sloppy. This hairstyle is great for textured or wavy hair, and is a great alternative to the textured side braid when you’re on the run and may not have quite as much hair. It may take a handful of bobby pins and some hair spray, but this look shouldn’t take too long.
